Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

The go-to place for Debt advice

The go-to place for Debt advice, based on my experiences. Don't leave things too late, as they can help you up-front—no need to be shy or embarrassed. You may be forwarded to them from Business Debtline or National Debtline. These are all excellent free services. The last thing you want to do is pay out even more. I could pay my debts, but the interest could suck up your resources. I had had enough of it. They helped me. Recommended! Reviewed on: 27th May 2026

If you're in debt they will help you get out of it

When I first contacted Step Change I was drowning in debt and every day was full of stress about money. They helped me go through my debts and come up with a realistic plan, and set me up with the breathing space scheme to get debtors off my back while everything was set up. StepChange helped me turn my life around

StepChange helped me turn my life around, I found myself in debt for a few personal reasons and didn't know where to turn, my mental health was at a critical point, one of my more helpful debtors pointed me towards help and this is when I found StepChange. They helped me with debtors who were harassing me and how to budget and set up an affordable payment plan.
