Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

We spent several years paying high interest rates in an attempt to pay off our debts, but the debts remained the same after 5 years. We pleaded with our debtors to lower their rates but by then they were well over 20%. By chance we approached Step Change who enabled us to start paying off our debts which has reduced our debts. Gave us our life back

We honestly cannot thank StepChange enough for the help and support they have given me and my husband. When you are struggling with debt it can feel overwhelming, embarrassing and lonely, but from the very first conversation they treated us with kindness, respect and absolutely no judgement. They took the time to listen, explain everything clearly and help us find a solution that works for us. One of the biggest things for us is that the service is completely free. Every penny we pay goes towards clearing our debts rather than paying expensive fees, which has made such a huge difference. For the first time in a long time we actually feel in control and able to breathe again. The stress and worry has reduced so much knowing we have support and a proper plan in place. If anyone is struggling financially and feeling scared to ask for help, please know you are not alone. Reaching out to StepChange was one of the best decisions we ever made. Invaluable

I had been in debt for a long time and when I found someone who took the embarrassment and stress out of repaying I couldn't believe it. They dealt with everything! All the scary creditors letters all the pushy letters and emails. Then the repayments. This service has been truly invaluable and I can not be more grateful for them and this service. SOME PEOPLE CANT CALL ON A PHONE !.

Slow to answer emails and when they do it say please call us. Not every one has a phone or access to one, some people maybe are deaf or hearing impaired and some people hate talking on a phone due to Depression or anxiety. I my self sufferings the latter.
