Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

We have been with Stepchange for a number of years and have found them to be very supportive at every stage from setting up a Debt Management plan to doing the yearly budget reviews and helping with any letters we get from Debtors. The staff are non-judgemental and so calming to talk to. They really do help you find the best solution for your circumstances. Reviewed on: 24th May 2025

Step change literally changed my life.

Step change literally changed my life. I got myself racked up in loads of debt and kept thinking minimum payments here and there id get myself out of it along with other high interest payments and commitments. I threatened to use step change for 3 years but never took it seriously. Then I realised things had to change. I'm not nearly 5 years into my step change DMP with only around 6 payments left till I am debt free. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel made me realise I wished I had used this service years before I finally did. All of your funds go towards your debts, the letters and calls from debt collectors all stop. I'm looking forward to a better financial future because of this service. I was so out of my depth and getting worse. I contacted StepChange and they were non judgemental right from the start. They put me on a payment plan while allowing me to still have a life and enjoy things. It wasn’t easy and it took several years, but I am debt free. I cried when I got the letter congratulating me.
