Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Good advice but not always easy to contact

Step Change are very knowledgeable about debt and what things are available to deal with it. They're not always very easy to contact by telephone, no doubt because their service is in high demand, which makes it difficult because I'm working and can't make long calls/be on hold for long periods during the week. I find it does take quite a while for them to respond to email contact. Reviewed on: 27th May 2026

Then I found stepchange and they helped me to get my debt under control now I’m almost completely debt free and still able to do all the things I want to do and I could have done that without the amazing help and support from stepchange.
