Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Step change has helped me go from a dark place of despair and feeling trapped to over time, with patience and continuous review, has helped me to reduce my debt from over £12,000 to under £3,000 in around 6 years. It doesn’t happen overnight and needs reviewing annually. But has helped significantly improve credit and reduce debt. Reviewed on: 11th June 2026

Fantastic all round support from step change

I reached out to step change when I had a massive decrease in income, they were very helpful, they sorted a plan with me contacted my creditors with a payment plan, which they all accepted, this has left me stress free, and an end date when I will be debt free.
