Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I was desperate, actually suicidal.

I was desperate, actually suicidal. I couldn't believe i could be helped. Stepchange allowed me to have a night's sleep for the first time in years. I only wish I'd found them sooner. You made me realise I wasn't the only one in such a mess. Actually, there were many people in a much worse state than me. I will never be able to thank you enough. Wonderfully kind people and a fantastic Charity

We have been with Stepchange for the past 6 years, and they are fantastic. We are in a Debt Management Programme and from the outset, they have taken all of the stress and worry away from dealing with our creditors. Our situation is complex and we do worry about our future but knowing we have Stepchange on our side makes life bearable. We cannot recommend them enough. Before we knew about Stepchange, we were looking at using a company that advertised on the TV and after contacting them, we were bombarded with phone calls saying we only had hours to make a decision to use them and sign up and it just didn't feel right to be put under that much pressure. So we contacted Citizens Advice and they told us about the charity Stepchange. All of the money from our monthly payments goes to the creditors. Not like the first company we contacted who would have taken a hefty amount for themselves which is why they were putting us under pressure. From Zero to Hero – StepChange Gave Me My Life Back I’m a guy in my 20s, and not too long ago, I thought life was over. I had no job, no direction, and £6,000 of debt I couldn’t pay off. It felt like there was no way out. Then I found StepChange. They helped me set up a Debt Management Plan (DMP) that actually worked for me. With their support, I’ve paid off almost all of my debt - and I’m nearly there. Just a little more to go, and I’ll be completely debt-free. StepChange gave me structure, hope, and a fresh start when I couldn’t see a way forward. Life is good now. I’m working again, and I finally feel in control of my future.
