Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I was in a dark place, I was in a lot of debt but made every payment each month. But never had anything left over and was often increasing debt to pay some bills using a credit card which wasn't sustainable. When I contacted stepchange there was no judgement and they supported me throughout the whole process and now I pay a more affordable monthly payment, ensuring that all my bills will be cleared. If it wasn't for Stepchange I don't know where I'd be now. They were a lifeline when I was in dire straits and remain so. They listen and provide much needed advice.
