Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Stressful situation where left alone drawing in financial difficulties, due to my partner not working, I have made wrong financial decisions. Stepchange provided excellent options and advice, and when we decided what was right for us, they took our paperwork and set everything up, including negotiating interest free with all providers, and arranging the repayment amounts.
