Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

So grateful to StepChange.

I went from having a well paid job to not. I accrued debts I wasn’t covering the interest on every month. I was drowning. Owning my problem, the reality check of writing it down was really helpful. I got an affordable debt management plan. The annual reviews are great too, you can increase or decrease payments realistically. (Or just ring if circumstances change. I recommended StepChange to my son, and he has a DMP too. I have now paid mine off and am solvent for the first time in my life. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

Finished!

When conducting our annual reviews, most of the staff were friendly and helpful and were let down by the few who were less than helpful, hence the loss of one star in the rating. We have however, with their help got through our problems and are now happily debt free! Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025
