Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Due to major health issues for my wife and myself after 40yrs of professional work and still trying to work with these issues for a further 2yrs, it became impossible to continue, so we were left with just state pensions, debt began to build up. Stress and sleepless nights became part of life. Contacting StepChange turned things around immediately. I have only found them extremely helpful and compassionate to the situation I have found myself in. I find them very diligent in maintaining contact with me via email to keep me up to date with how things are going and offer any needed advice when required. Have nothing but praise for them. It does take on occasions some time to contact them by phone, but of course when you understand that you are not the only individual going through the difficult issues, there are many many more people in a like position.
