Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I was so embarrassed about getting into debt - it was keeping me awake at night and I couldn’t talk to anyone about it. The hardest step was the first one. Most if it was done online so I didn’t have to speak directly to anyone, but when I did have to speak to people they are honestly the kindest and most understanding, non-judgemental people. Free debt advice was provided by Stepchange time when I was financially vulnerable after a divorce with 3 small children to support. They provided a solution and helped me navigate my finance in a very practical way that I could not have done myself. Getting my life back.......Honestly!
