Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Double redundancy

Joined stepchange after being made redundant, then ha to rejoin after Covid because I was made redundant again. Always a great help - even when I applied for a job where enquiries into my finances were required. Highly recommended. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Well I just want to thank step change for the help I was very worried about my situation I new this wud be short term with just a few more years to go but having reduced income caused me some very sleepless nights it's a shame the creditors weren't so helpful instead of making life a worrying time I can't tell u wot was going through my mind lieing there at night thinking of trying to get out of this situation but step change helped me massively it's not over yet worrying about were we go from here my wife is disabled so we have put the house up for sale and all been well my debts will get paid off in full step change did all the work for me and I've started to compose myself and I no if there any step backs step change will help me out but let's hope it doesn't come to that so if there's anyone out there who reads this and Ur financially struggling please contact step change there here to support u and help us Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

I was so worried and was told to use Step Change. It’s a life saver. The staff were so kind, not judgmental and helped me all the way through when I needed it.
