Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I was at my wits end, petrified of the situation I had got myself into. I phoned StepChange and they were so helpful and gave me hope that I could carry on. I have a debt management plan that I update each year. I am so grateful to StepChange for helping me be able to sleep at night and give me peace at last. seek help for your health

you can only ignore the letters for so long, the stress wont go away seeking help is difficult as you are embarrased and ashamed to be in your situation, finding and joining stepchange changed all that, a monthly affordable plan no more letters no more stress, a debt reducing over time. Life saver ' literally

Best decision I've ever made

I was so stressed and completely overwhelmed trying to keep on top of all my debts. Literally living from paycheck to paycheck and being terrified how to afford anything “extra” for the month like an MOT or even going for a meal with friends. Step change has changed my life, I honestly can’t recommend them enough. I felt initially embarrassed explaining and adding up all my debts but they were so kind and understanding!
