Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Nearly Debt Free thanks to Stepchange

MY wife Died in 2019 after 5yrs battling Cancer I was very low and stupidly through gambling and not generally giving a damn built up a large debt..Once I came to my senses I realized I had to take a grip on my Finances an the easy option would have been to go Bankrupt but I wanted to do the decent thing and pay back what I owed! I contacted Stepchange as they had been recommended and after going through my income and Debts they recommended a Debt Management Plan which my many creditors agreed to...I started my plan about 3 yrs back and I am in a great place now where it is due to end in Jan 2026 and every month the debts are dropping off as they are settled. I have had bumps along the way but have worked with Stepchange to get back on track...Actually enjoy seeing the statement now x Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025
