Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

My experience has been very positive.

My experience has been very positive. I was referred to step change at a very difficult time, I was nervous before making the initial contact. And when I did, I was very happy and relieved. All the advisors have ever spoken to/worked with have always been professional, kind and patient with me. So far I have managed to clear two smaller debts. Excellent!!

Step change have really helped dig us out of a financial hole massively! Before speaking to step change I would dread everyday not knowing if I'd have enough money in the bank to pay bills or even get to work. The stress it caused was overwhelming and I just knew something had to change. After speaking to step change who helped recommend a plan and deal with my creditors on my behalf, the stress was gone. One monthly payment paid to step change who then divide it up amongst my creditors was so hassle free I know only have to think about 1 payment a month and I'm so much better off mentally. I just wish I had found Stepchange sooner

I just wish I had found Stepchange sooner - from filling in my first budget sheets to starting my debt management plan has been such a relief. I actually thought I would never be able to sort out and pay my debts - having just retired this was extremely stressful and daunting. Now I have a 52 month plan and budget which means I pay all of them and still manage to survive affordably. I have been kept informed throughout this process and cannot imagine doing this on my own - I'm so grateful to everyone at Stepchange for this opportunity to get my finances back on track.
