Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Given me a very poor credit score.

Although I had accumulated a lot of debt I always made sure my bills were paid on time, this kept my credit score good but I struggled with day to day cost of living. I did not realise that using stepchange would create late payments and my credit scare is very poor. This worries me when I have to renew this year. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

No More Sleepless Nights

I had so many sleepless nights worrying about finances and debt before I reached out to Step Change and they helped me so much with working out my budget in easy to understand steps. Just never been in this position.

Just never been in this position before and so it was really scary and I thought I would be judged… but I was put at ease and not to be made to look like a failure as I do want to pay everyone and at this late stage in my life I never wanted to be here and StepChange took all the worries away and sorted everything out for me. Sorted out my budget and helped me get in control.

Sorted out my budget and helped me get in control. Only issue is with some delayed payments due to one of my creditors switching the debt collection agency they used and a couple of payments going missing but StepChange have given me advice for chasing that. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025
