Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

StepChange help just when you need it

Following a scam whereby I thought I was lending a large sum of money to charity I found myself owing money to banks and credit card companies. At age 81 I had never been in debt before and found the situation very stressful. Stepchange has been very professional in helping me determine the monthly repayment amount and in liaising with my creditors. StC have been very kind and have never made me feel bad about my debt. From a twisted up mess of debt when I lost my job and my pride always been stubbornly independent but now I needed help and I found Step Change who literally took the heavy burden of fear off of my back and saved my life with their friendly non judgmental assistance.
