Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Don't let debt ruin your life.

Faced with spiralling debts and not seeing a way out I was at the end of my hope and feeling suicidally depressed.. A friend suggested that I speak to Step change and my life changed for the better as a result. All of the calls and letters stopped and I am now making one monthly payment to Step change who then allocate funds to my creditors. Reviewed on: 11th June 2025

Every person that has assisted me have been so helpful and kind.They know it’s a massive step for people to take that first step and pick up the phone.My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.I feel in control of life again and not afraid to pick up the phone and no more mountains of letters.Changed life for me.. Not impressed

It's handy to have just one payment for my debts but the customer service is extremely poor and has caused more stress. They treat you like a number rather than a person and communication is extremely poor regarding decisions made on your behalf. Reviewed on: 10th June 2025

StepChange have helped me out of a financial nightmare. I don't know how I would have managed without them. Their advisors are firm but fair, and most importantly, non-judgmental.
