Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Overall experience

Being in debt can be embarrassing and difficult to talk about, even with close family. Signing up with StepChange has eased a lot of the stress and I am safe in the knowledge that I am doing something about the predicament I found myself in. We were drowning in debt and unable to meet pur payments each month, so we were borrowing off Peter to pay Paul, so the saying goes and getting deeper in debt just to manage the minimum payments. We then heard about Step Change, and wow what a lifeline they have been. They worked out a manageable payment plan to each of our debts and now we are much happier and living again without the constant stress and worry. Thank you so much Step Change for your invaluable help. Please if anyone is struggling, please just reach out to Step Change, they will change your life. We wished we had found them a lot sooner.
