Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Step Change lives up to their name!

Step Change lives up to their name! With debt spiraling and on a reduced income times were beyond financially difficult. Contacting StepChange was the best action I have taken in a quest to finally get to grips with repaying back debt. From the very first call I was treated with understanding and dignity and I was very grateful of that given the embarrassment I felt being in the situation I was in. My debt management plan was in place in no time. That was 3 years ago. Im well on the road to finally being debt-free and this is down to StepChange's intervention and there continued support. Best thing I ever did, speaking to Step Change!

I started to fall behind on a couple of payments & using credit cards to pay them, things just spiralled. I stopped opening letters & buried my head in the sand. I hoped it would go away. I was recommended to speak to step change & they were so helpful & didn’t judge me. They made the process of paying off my debts so much easier. They contacted my debtors & together we agreed a monthly payment plan. I should be debt free next year. I can’t thank step change enough. Reviewed on: 18th May 2024
