It was absolutely fantastic help from start to finish.

It was absolutely fantastic help from start to finish. It took 8 days in total. I'm sitting here now a lot happier than I was 3 weeks ago. They put me forward (against their recommendation) for a DRO, which was passed 2 weeks ago, and because I have their backing, I have been able to liaise with my creditors a lot easier, and they have actually helped me due to my underlying health issues. Thank you to them all from Stepchange and also Money Wellness (the people who organised my finances and submitted my DRO application) From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. I was drowned in debt and having sleepless night, I could not save or go on a holiday with my family. Fortunately, a friend introduce step change to me, they resolved my debt issues on that same day I contacted them. Since then, I've never been contacted by any debtor. Have been supported by Stepchange to manage my debts...

Have been supported by Stepchange to manage my debts for years now, I don’t know what I would have done without them as a struggling single mum on a low income. The overwhelmingly difficult task of dealing with debtors alone was taken on by them, a huge burden lifted. I cannot rate their service highly enough. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

Stepchange gave me life and hope!

I contacted Stepchange in 2019, as recommended by The Citizens Advice Bureau, I was medically retired from the Civil Service, so one day i was on a high salary with a Mortgage, Personal Car Plan and loads of Credit Cards. The following day i had nothing but debts. I put most of my retirement money in to my mortgage, as I was scared of losing my home! The rest went to buy my car from the plan. After that were all of my Credit Cards, which were no problem when i was employed, but now i could see a point where they would become unmanageable. I had to wait for ages to find out what benefits i could claim, as i had no other income. I worked out my total debt and it was nearly £62,000... still the remaining mortgage and the cards, which were being used constantly, as it was taking so long to obtain my benefits, with no other income. Finally, Stepchange literally changed my life. Now, in 2025, i feel so good about my debts, as they are now £38,000. I have achieved a massive reduction and i know many people who owe similar amounts, simply as part of life! It only took me just under 6 years to achieve this and i can see the end of the tunnel. When you find yourself in an awful, 'nowhere to turn' situation, I can't praise StepChange enough for the help they gave us, straight from the first contact. They gave me chance to go through everything clearly and at a pace that works for you, to get you into a position where you can see a way forward in getting back on track financially.
