Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Just can't thank stepchange and also formally called CCCS enough. My life is at an all time low when they helped me out on 2004. 80k debt is now around one quarter of that total despite being on a pretty low wage of 35 years in the NHS. Prior to their help n 2004 I had constant phone calls, people at my door demanding money I just did not have. 2 CCJs but at least I still have my house. The moment I took advice of my work colleagues and joined them the phone calls stopped and no more doorstep visits. Been a long journey but feel like there's light at the end of the tunnel.
