re-mortgage

I have been with the company for 10yrs and I contacted yourselves re a re-mortgage. A lot of paperwork sent back and too. We signed and sent all paperwork as requested but you emailed me to say that the pension provider form showing I would be entitled to part of my husband's pension should he pass away had not been sent. I did send the form but had to request another one from them. All the paperwork was sent beginning of December and I waited for a response but didn't hear from you. I ccontacted you in January to be told that you were waiting for signed paperwork from me. You sent a letter requesting 2 forms to be signed and returned. Problem was that you only sent 1 form which I returned. Consequently you sent another form which was returned. I was annoyed that you lost paperwork on 2 occasions which incurred a delay in finalising the remortgage. There was no apology - obviously blaming me. I did send an email to the person dealing with it but got a less than satisfactory reply. The call centre staff are very pleasant and helpful. Reviewed on: 29th January 2021

Avoid

Frustrating company to deal with, misuse of my data on two occasions absolutely incompetent. Complained about the issue and poor response and then a month later they repeat their same mistake. Asked for information multiple times that they already have. Delayed my house purchase. No one knows what they are doing. Baffling. Reviewed on: 30th December 2020

The Family Building Society is a Flexible Building Society who are willing to listen.

Thankfully The Family Building Society were able to help us. A few years ago. as a retired couple with a substantial pension for life, we found it very difficult to obtain a mortgage. At the time we were told by various companies that if we had a regular salary from an Employer we might be considered. A good pension and other strong investments were not recognised. Particular, due to the Covid virus people are struggling to pay their mortgages and in many unfortunate cases have been made redundant from the salaried jobs. We, having a secure pension for life, have continued to repay our mortgage on time. Reviewed on: 20th November 2020

Excellent mortgage provider for people age 70 plus.

I was refused a mortgage by two mortgage lenders because of my age, 70 years. My broker introduced me to FBS and i was given a mortgage with my husband jointly, and it was simple and trouble free to arrange and to continue with. Reviewed on: 19th November 2020

Re-mortgage in retirement

We wanted to release capital to help our son buy a property and did not want equity release. I was 64 and my wife 57. Our mortgage adviser found it hard to find a company to take us on but eventually secured us a 21 year mortgage on 40% of the value of our house at a reasonable rate of interest. Good service

Product Transfer Process

What a delight to receive such personal and courteous service when transferring to a different product. Really felt that FBS cared and definitely lived up to their promise and reputation enabling us to relax knowing we are being cared for. Remortgage

Appalling service , they have taken 6 months and £175.00 pounds and have yet to come up with a final offer never reply to emails and always ask for obscure documentation. Lost the purchased due to there incompetence. Steer well clear! Reviewed on: 21st January 2020

Stress Free Experience

Our 2 year fixed rate mortgage was up for renewal and I found swapping to a new product with The Family Building Society was carried out in a friendly helpful manner with an easy switch over and would highly recommend contacting The Family Building Society when considering a mortgage.
