Review of the Vitality, Health insurance:

Avoid at all cost, better Health Companies out there!!

1
My Company decided to give it a go and enroll this year with Vitality, for the past 15 years we used mainly Axa ppp and other providers such Bupa. These big companies are expensive however they take the stress away in terms of approving claims or consultations. Never had problems in the past. Unfortunately for me Vitality so far only offered a poor service. As other reviewers mentioned the amount informations requested plus involving GP on obtain records only elongate the process; reason why people use Private health insurance is to actually avoid these long wait to see a GP and been referred as soon as possible.Just so you know if you ask your Gp to fill up the records forms it will take up to 4 weeks and also you have to pay a fee to your surgery. So you might be quicker booking an appointment with your Gp than fill these forms !!! The frustrating part is the fact we took the full package from vitality and covering also existing condition however at the time of the switch you must forecast if you might have present conditions that might develop into something that requires additional consultations, basically they will do everything in their power to avoid claims!! So to everyone thinking to switch to Vitality ]bear in mind that you might encounter issue when making a claim. By the way my referral was approved by Vitality online GP and still wants more informations by my Gp, Definitely no worth the stress on taking a cheaper Company which only interest is on saving money. The worst insurance provider I have ever come across.

1
AVOID AT ALL COST - Worst than insurance providers in 3rd world countries. I injured my back and couldn't walk and sleep properly for months - It took them 3 months to approve an MRI with all the faffing around and forms to fill from current and previous GP's - Absolutely disgusting. Best part is that when they sent me to see their GP (face to face), their own GP said and I quote "These people do whatever they can to avoid paying and they tangle your claim with forms to put you off". Unfortunately, this is exactly what they do. Having done the MRI after a 3 month long process and countless forms and chasing up calls, their 3rd party provider ended up charging my credit card without notification and or consent for £170, an amount that I don't even know what it relates to and for. I had to report them as fraud and cancel my card. This insurance lures you in with their rewards and supposedly great service, but when you pay £80 per month for an insurance policy, I don't think you are really the type of person that is looking to save £60 pounds on an apple watch or get £10 off a gym membership. I have lived in many countries, including 3rd world countries where insurance providers were ten times better than this shamble of an insurance. Avoid it at all cost, but if you end up making a mistake and signing up with them, then I'm afraid you will find out soon enough what they are all about. This insurance is a shame to this industry, and there are plenty of other providers out there, so really learn from my mistake and obviously from many other people's bad experience with this company (as you can very clearly read from reviews) and save yourself the time, money and stress of dealing with them. Will not pay out for recommend treatment from a specialist.

1
I have been referred by a specialist dermatologist to have a lump removed from my abdomen before it gets too large, ruptures and becomes infected. Vitality have said that they will not pay for this treatment as it is ‘preventative’ and will only cover once it has actually ruptured despite a detailed letter from the doctor. When I explained that this would cause complications and leave me with bad scaring and risk of infection I was told by a very rude woman on the phone that this ‘was not their problem’! Please avoid these awful people at all costs. Reviewed on: 30th April 2018

Appalling, I feel they have been taking my money under false pretences .

1
I have tried to make my first claim with Vitality Health. Despite having a referral letter from my GP, over a month later they are still deliberating on my claim. They use every trick in the book to avoid paying out. Throwing out endless obstacles and prevarications, I have had to scan and send them over 30 pages of corroborating information. I honestly feel I have been conned. Their default position is that your claim is invalid and that you have to prove otherwise. Reviewed on: 16th March 2018

Extremely dissapointing

1
Unfortunately, I have had to use the services of my policy more often that I wanted. Everytime I have made a claim it has been a nightmare. Several calls, several emails, ages to get simple things. I am in the middle of a treatment and they have just decided that they don´t cover more tests regarding this condition. I am paying for fully cover and they have considered that it is now a routine treatment when it is not. Are they doctors to decide or just a mafia making money thanks to the people´s health? I am not interesting for them because I am not as healthy as they wanted? So sorry for that but I would prefer to not being using this shitty services first of all for my health and secondly for not treating for this kind of people. Reviewed on: 19th December 2017

Working in Vitality

This company is definitely one of the worst company to work for , pride its self on healthy lifestyles brand, however a lot of there staffs are not healthy and suffer from work related stress, you have to work 50-60 hours a week in order to achieve there unachievable sales target even thou you only contracted to 37hrs , you don't get paid for the overtime and if you raise the issue up with management you get sacked, the pro is you get free bananas for you had work every Monday . How organizations like this is still in existence only GOD knows Reviewed on: 7th August 2017

Good cover with perks

The Vitality rewards programme is actually really worth considering. You can get some really good discounts such as saving money on bicycles or a trip to a Champneys Spa amongst others. If you take the time to sign up it can be addictive! Reviewed on: 21st July 2017

Awful claims process

1
Twice now I have contacted vitality and ended up paying for a private health service on a payg option as it was faster. The first time I was in excruciating pain with my hips and after my nhs GP ran blood tests and X-rays to tell me everything was normal I contacted vitality as clearly it wasn't. I needed a triage call to advise on which physiotherapist I could see under my policy and the call was scheduled. Only I never received the call and when I contacted customer services was told they'd called and I hadn't answered. Totally not the case as I was sitting phone in hand waiting for the call not to mention no voicemail received from them. So I paid to see a physiotherapist myself. This time I've discovered a lump in my neck so rather than wait 3 weeks to see my nhs GP I paid to see a bupa GP who instantly referred me to a specialist. So I called vitality to see which specialist I was authorised to go to under my policy only to be told I needed to see my GP and fill out a form and then they would assess the claim before making the appointment for me. Nhs would be faster!!!!! Reviewed on: 14th July 2017

***AVOID - AT ALL COSTS*** - South African Gimmick 'Health Provider'

1
***AVOID - AT ALL COSTS*** - South African Gimmick 'Health Provider' I have been with Vitality for 14 months. My wife and I have put in several doctors referrals, service is so slow, unfriendly staff, you are better off with the NHS (there is no value at all here). It takes months to get any claim approved and even then most are rejected. They are awful over the phone (e.g. they make you feel like a criminal rather than a customer). I have advised my company to use another provided as they add no value as a 'healthcare provider'. Go with more trustworthy UK company e.g. Bupa Reviewed on: 19th June 2017
