Review of the Vitality, Health insurance:

The worst insurance provider I have ever come across.

1
AVOID AT ALL COST - Worst than insurance providers in 3rd world countries. I injured my back and couldn't walk and sleep properly for months - It took them 3 months to approve an MRI with all the faffing around and forms to fill from current and previous GP's - Absolutely disgusting. Best part is that when they sent me to see their GP (face to face), their own GP said and I quote "These people do whatever they can to avoid paying and they tangle your claim with forms to put you off". Unfortunately, this is exactly what they do. Having done the MRI after a 3 month long process and countless forms and chasing up calls, their 3rd party provider ended up charging my credit card without notification and or consent for £170, an amount that I don't even know what it relates to and for. I had to report them as fraud and cancel my card. This insurance lures you in with their rewards and supposedly great service, but when you pay £80 per month for an insurance policy, I don't think you are really the type of person that is looking to save £60 pounds on an apple watch or get £10 off a gym membership. I have lived in many countries, including 3rd world countries where insurance providers were ten times better than this shamble of an insurance. Avoid it at all cost, but if you end up making a mistake and signing up with them, then I'm afraid you will find out soon enough what they are all about. This insurance is a shame to this industry, and there are plenty of other providers out there, so really learn from my mistake and obviously from many other people's bad experience with this company (as you can very clearly read from reviews) and save yourself the time, money and stress of dealing with them. not a real health insurance really.

not a real health insurance really. they specialise in providing gadjets, vouchers and coupons. when medical health is needed, they're not there for you. flew abroad for treatment in the end, far easier and less hassle. Reviewed on: 10th January 2024

Utter shite

1
Doctors service online means nothing as you still need to see your own GP. Didn’t send forms as promised Treatment then based on yet another level of assessment. Returning to BUPA as soon as I can. Utterly rubbish Reviewed on: 12th December 2023

Horrible company to deal with

1
My experience with Vitality has been nothing short of frustrating. From the very beginning, it became evident that their primary goal is to find any possible loophole to avoid fulfilling their commitments. Dealing with them has been a constant battle, as they consistently attempt to wiggle their way out of honoring claims. If your employer is providing this as a benefit, it is better to refuse it or you'll be paying benefit tax for absolutely nothing. Reviewed on: 12th December 2023

Pointless

Herniated a disc in my back in Feb 2023. After months of backwards and forwards regarding the claim and gp statements I was told it was denied due to a pre existing condition back in 2001 when I went to doctors for back pain. Reviewed on: 22nd November 2023

Confusing policies, dishonest behaviour

1
I was initially very pleased to be their customer and signed up for myself and my daughter. In their policy it is stated that they provide "full cover for talking therapies" which was made clear to me both in written and over the phone. As a matter of fact, this was one of the reasons why I subscribed. When I raised a claim they said they will not cover anything before the 1,000 excess - even if 'My plan benefits' clearly states otherwise. I raised a complaint to no avail. Even if the amount claimed is insignificant, It seems that they are challenging their customers' intelligence by making up unimaginable excuses to avoid honouring the agreement. On the positive side, their representatives are kind and educated. I am raising it with the financial ombudsman now and in the search of a new provider. I really wish it hadn't turn out this way. Cinema vouchers don't work. Support a joke.

1
2 Odeon cinema voucher codes have not worked. Contacting Vitality customer support is the most frustrating experience ever. I have sent countless messages and they act like they don't understand my simple query. When giving them the message references they give me, for some reason this is not enough for them to know who I am or what my query is about. Reviewed on: 29th September 2023

Shockingly bad, even for an insurance company

1
Vitality will do everything they can to delay your claim. Maybe they think if they continuously delay you will get fed up and use the NHS instead. Delaying tactics they have used: Repeatedly asking for the consultants letter which they have been sent multiple times. Claiming they have never received it despite getting confirmation emails and verbal confirmation that it was received. Asking your consultant to complete an additional form. Asking your GP to complete a form, for which you will have to pay. Promising to call you back but never call. Reviewed on: 29th September 2023
