Decided to sign up to online with the Chorley because of lock down. It was very straight forward and easy to understand considering doing online banking is new to me. I was sent an ID number through the post and went into my Chorley accounts but I couldn’t see a log out notice which the letter accompanying my ID number said to do but it would log me out after 5 minutes automatically if I wasn’t using the inline service. I found this to be a long time to wait and would have thought probably a couple of minutes would have been enough wait. I rang the next day and spoke to a lovely lady Called Joyce Haywood who was working from home because of the Covid-19 pandemic situation, she was very helpful and asked if there was a menu option which there was so I clicked on it and low and behold was the option to log off. Unfortunately, Royal Mail took 10 days to deliver my passbook which I not was dispatched first class. I realise that this is outside of your control, but disappointing. I like the fact that I can ring and speak to a live human very quickly! Well done! Reviewed on: 21st June 2023

The staff are always very helpful and have a smile for you. Key House is very local to me with plenty of parking which is a bonus, however on my last visit to the branch I was sat conducting business and a couple of other customers were stood right behind me which left me slightly uncomfortable. May I suggest a polite 'please wait here' notice a few metres back from the counter so customeers do not feel as I did on this occassion? Reviewed on: 5th June 2023

Absolutely hopeless.

I opened a new account online but in the process could not get the programme let me enter anything into one of the mandatory boxes. It took a phone call and call back to get this resolved. Then when the account was set up I could not get into it online. I received a message saying my account was suspended. Another phone call and several hours to get a call back. The customer ep said my account had indeed been suspended and rectified that. However, when I tried again I found that my account was still suspended. I give up. Reviewed on: 30th May 2023

Antiquated Building Society not in this century (or the last)

When is online not online? When it's Chorley Building Society. Very user unfriendly, slow, unhelpful online platform. The online platform they use is one that is used by most Building Societies but is hopeless and Chorley's use of it is dreadful. Despite having an online account they sent me a passbook. interest and service

It was easy to open the saving account on line. However, interest was slow to change when the base rate was increased. When needed to close account, can't do with transfer of balance to nominated account must wait for a cheque. Not at all convenient and it's not great if you need money quickly. You can transfer out to nominate account electronically but must leave at least £500 in the account then close it and wait for a cheque. These days, one still have to do this is not exactly great.
