Bank that offers Great products

I thought applying for a personal loan would never be easy. But HSBC proved me wrong! I wanted to buy a car, but I wasn’t eligible for a loan in other banks with which I’ve had accounts for more than 2 years. I was disappointed and frustrated as I struggled with public transport (I lived in a remote place where train/bus connectivity was poor). But HSBC offered me a loan, approved it and released funds in less than 24 hours. I am grateful for the support the bank has provided and I look forward to banking more with HSBC! Although Covid is all but over.. The financial aftermath isn't yet

Simple, no stress manageable

Too much interest

Con Job

Offered a 3.5% loan by email. Applied through online banking at 3.5% for a quote all looks fine. Filled in the application form and at the end it came up with an alternative quote at 18%.. Daylight robbery. I have been with this bank for over 30 years. Reviewed on: 28th July 2022

Lied about pre-approval

Received a letter saying that we were pre-approved for a £10,000 loan at around 2.5% interest (can't remember exactly). This would have been a huge help as a consolidation loan for us so we were exited to finally be able to get our finances under control. After going through all the process we were offered the loan but at a much higher rate of interest. I'm sure they do it in purpose so that people have already spent the money in their heads and still go along with the more expensive loan. Our current account is with them and none of the information we gave filling in the application was un-known to them before they sent the original offer. Reviewed on: 12th January 2022

Process slow and difficult online

I applied for a personal loan, which claimed to give me a decision in five working days with a statement that this could take longer because of Covid. Up to 10 working days. It has taken three weeks and I still have no decision. They have asked for bank details and income details two weeks after the first application and when these were uploaded, I received no feedback, until I chased them by phone. I have previously had my mortgage with them and a personal loan, both of which were paid off early. My credit rating is excellent. I would suggest that getting an appointment in branch would have been much easier. Reviewed on: 9th July 2021
