Appalling claims settlement process

Ageas claims are absolutely appalling. Fast enough to take your money for a policy but a very different story when they are supposed to pay it out! I had my prize Porsche stolen last November, and trying to get some professionalism and efficiency from there claims department is impossible. The appointed loss adjuster took over 2 months to make an appointment to see me, then didn’t bother to reply to my emails asking him what he wanted in the way of documentation. The claim handler then told me not to deal with him any more or reply to his emails as he was ‘off the case’. He then turns up at my home unannounced 3 weeks later saying he is ‘back on the case’ and apologised for all the mess up! Ageas left it over 3 months before requesting a police report (that takes another 3 weeks). When I asked why everything is not requested at the start of the claim, I’m told ‘we can take as long as we like’! What sort of professional response is that! The claim is now into its 5th month and although I emailed the claim handler a week ago asking for an update, I still have no reply. They can’t even respond to an email in 7 days! I also asked for contact details for the head of the total loss department, and they wouldn’t give them to me, disgusting service. I have made complaint to the FOS and the FSA (financial governing bodies) as well as Ageas themselves. Next step will be the press and the courts! Reviewed on: 10th April 2019

Excellent Online Experience

As with most things these days being able to access a website is one of the most important feature a look for when using any service. The ageas website is one of the best, easy to navigate and find information about policy - documents and policies are easy to download. Live chat feature works well and when the bot can't answer a question moves over for an agent to help. I've used the site and chat feature to update vehicle details and check current documents. A very efficient service, easy to use and great value, though it's not for those who prefer an actual person to speak to. Having said that, the true measure of an insurance company is when you need to make a claim and fortunately for me, that hasn't happened. Reviewed on: 5th September 2025

My car driven into while stationary, 3 years later and still not settled yet have doubled my monthly payments they simply don’t care, please don’t use these absolute thieves, I’ve had to get the Financial ombudsman involved just to be able to sell my car and go with a different company.
