Half the price of previous insurance!!!

Asda Pet insurance for our dog worked out half the price a month compared to our previous insurer!! We haven't had to use the insurance yet so can't comment on the customer service but we were happy to be saving every month!! Reviewed on: 16th July 2017

DO NOT BUY A POLICY WITH ASDA PET INSURANCE!

My poor dog underwent elbow dysplasia surgery in June 2025. My claim of just short of £3.5k was submitted on the same day by the vet surgery. I quickly received a flurry of messages in the first few days, saying they needed further information and if they did not receive that information within 30-days, they would close the claim. The vet surgery consistently provided the info they needed. I heard nothing then until August 2025 when I chased them up. At that point, Asda said they again needed more information, which the surgery provided on the same day. I called again in September and also wrote them - I received a reply to say they now had all the information they needed and the claim would be assessed. I chased again in October 2025 - claim is STILL waiting for an assessor to get to it. It is now 24 December 2025 and I have heard literally not one word from Asda. Over six months since my claim was submitted, with nothing but excuses about backlogs and how they are really busy. Reading the reviews, and the amount of time they are taking, I am guessing they will refuse to pay on the basis that my dog had a pre-existing condition (he didn’t). Unbelievably bad customer service and shocking company. They honestly do not care. The customer service reps just read a script, give stock answers and apparently cannot help at all. I wish I had never taken out the policy, and will never give Asda any more business. Reviewed on: 24th December 2025

Smooth process

Recently my cat had to have all her teeth removed. Luckily the Lifetime Policy I chose covered dental due to illness. I raised a claim and found the process very easy to do on line. Emails kept me informed on how my claim was progressing. Once they received the information from the vets, they settled the claim this week. The whole process has been very smooth. Wouldnt pay all of my claim, poor experience

Made a claim for my pet who unfortunately had to be taken to emergency vets late at night, and subsequently died despite the vet's best efforts. When I claimed, minus the mandatory £100 excess, I was also told they do not cover 'out of hours admission fees' which put me out of pocket another circa £200. Like my pet was supposed to have their accident within 'normal vet hours'- crazy. So poor experience. Reviewed on: 29th October 2025

Excellent pet insurance

My cat fell off the building last month and I have made the claim with Asda pet insurance. As this is my first time making the claim, my experience has been great. It’s easy to fill in online form and easy to speak to someone over the phone to help me fill them in. So far my experience has been excellent. The staffs are very helpful. What a complete rip off company and waste of space

What a complete rip off company and waste of space Asda animal insurance is. I took out insurance in August 24, filled in my form and clearly stated my dog is a jack russsell terrier. I made a claim in November 2024 when my dog started expressing symptoms of Arthritus and i was paying over £100 per month for treatment. They came back with a refusal as said it was a pre existing condition that was noted in June 2024 before i took my insurance out. Arthritus was never mentioned in June 2024 and my vet even confirmed it was never mentioned until November 2024 in a letter. They then put my premium up as said i declared my dog as a medium cross breed and not a jack russell terrior! I told them i would never write that my dog is a medium crossbreed when asked his breed so this was changed on my form with out my permisiion. It means i now get ripped off by a premium by asda each month because they changed my form and because they said my dogs illness is a pre existing condition despite the vets letter im paying for a service that will not help when i need it. I went to the finantial ombudsman to help but he was a complete jobsworth too, both companys are not fit for purpose and i will now be cancelling my insurance this evening. Would NOT recommend Asda Pet Insurance

Was sold what I thought was comprehensive cover for an aging dog. Premium increased significantly in a year just made a claim and only received a small amount because of ‘T&C’’ when have impression are covered for more. Is difficult to predict everything, and make decisions on complex policy terms. Should not be this complicated- feels like been taken for a ride when am an honest person who just wants the best for there pet. Will be looking else where. Reviewed on: 12th May 2025

I so wish I had read the reviews before my experience. My dog has been diagnosed with arthritis which is a long term illness, they have said that it is a pre existing condition because I gave her Yumove. Honestly, biggest scammers I've ever come across. Reviewed on: 7th May 2025

Stay well away from Asda Pet Insurance.

Stay well away from Asda Pet Insurance. Our dog unfortunately was ill back in November 2024, it is now March 2025 and we are still waiting for our claim to be sorted. The service provided is terrible, whenever you call them about the claim they just give you the basic answers "it being assed sir" nothing else. I find it an absolute disgrace that it should that a quarter of a year for them to process a claim, even more so when I am being charged so much money per month for the policy, mainly due to our dogs age and a previous cliam. DO NOT USE ASDA PET INSURANCE I submitted a claim early November for vet treatment for my dog. It has still not been reviewed. Every time I call for an update I am told they are short-staffed. I have raised a formal complaint but still no resolution. Avoid at all costs. Reviewed on: 22nd January 2025
