Shocking!

I have just had to cancel my AVIVA private health. It is the worst experience ever. When it came to a claim I had to wait up to 2+ hours on the phone, then they would not process the claim, I had to go through NHS (but continued to pay circa £299 a month but yet use the NHS! I appealed then they realised that I was in the right. They apologised and promised a £30 refund which I do not even know when I will receive this. I normally have BUPA or AXA PPP (which are much better). I will never take out an AVIVA policy again! steer clear of them! Reviewed on: 2nd December 2023

Rapid resolution - no complaint necessary.

An issue with payment for a treatment was rapidly resolved by Aviva and enabled things to move forward and be resolved within a week. A member of staff took ownership of the case and worked with other departments and external bodies to resolve matters without the need for a complaint. Reviewed on: 20th August 2026

They do not like claims.

I have hip pain and they declined my claim despite never having similar problems before. I have now referred them to the Ombudsman but of course this takes time. Reviewed on: 20th August 2026

It’s very reassuring to have this policy in place

my husband purchased our policy after 13 hour wait in A&E left us upset and un cared for. There was definitely a stigma around it and I wasn’t sure whether we would actually end up using it but God oh my God we ended up getting a policy. Since inception we’ve had to use it twice and both times the care and attention that we’ve had has been exceptional. Everything has been super quick. My wife was admitted to hospital for emergency treatment-we wrote to them and said what do you need from us.No reply. We sent bills £8ks worth, nothing for a year apart from telling us our providers were not recognised by Avila-they made that up. A year later we get a letter saying please contact us about it-we need some information. What do need? Silence . Next up we are going to sue. Reviewed on: 14th June 2026
