Our family curtailment mishandled

I submitted a curtailment claim to AXA Travel Insurance on 6th August 2025 for £7,499.66, covering myself, my wife, and our two children after the sudden passing of my father. On 3rd October, I received a settlement letter for just £2,405.94 a shortfall of over £5,000. The AXA online portal, however, still shows the claim as “Settled” with a value of £7,416.77. I am unsure where this figure has come from, as my original claim was for £7,499.66. AXA have provided no explanation for these discrepancies. The lack of clarity has left me to reasonably conclude that AXA may have treated the claim as if it only applied to my share of the holiday, despite the Policy Schedule clearly listing four insured travellers. However, without an explanation from AXA, this remains unclear. Throughout this process, I have also been given contradictory information on the phone at one point told my claim had been rejected as the person dealing with my claim inputted the wrong amount and another that the offer would be “around £2,000.” The complaints team themselves told me I should never have been given the £2,000 figure, as the claim had not been settled. On another call, when I rang the claims team for an update, I was told they could not answer my questions because the complaints team were now dealing with it, and I would need to speak to them directly. This has been a very distressing and poorly handled experience at an already difficult time. Reviewed on: 4th October 2025

I think it is a big scam company

I think it is a big scam company I think it is a big scam company. They never pay any claims. When you buy the insurance it is all looking legitimate. But soon as you pay or buy the insurance they send you all the small details in small problem pages off small print which you don't read and I don't think any body read . I bought travel insurance but when I needed to make a claim they told me read the terms and conditions in small print. And I think nobody could get any think whitth this conditions. The bottom lines. PLEASE DON'T BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE FROM THIS COMPANY BECAUSE YOU WILL GET NOTHING IN YOU NEEDED. It is not fair this company take advantage off everyone there's a reason we buy travel insurance if something happens we need help. Poor service and any excuse not to pay

After 3 months of back and forth and finally a formal complaint, they are still useless. My flight was cancelled due to a strike, I submitted the evidence from the airport confirming this but because the airline stated "operational reason" they used that as an excuse to ignore all the other evidence and reject the claim. Disgraceful. They should be hauled in front of court. They failed to pay out on my insurance claim. 2.5 years later after a protracted small claims process, their lawyer, Blake Morgan, eventually paid out on their behalf. AXA are refusing to pay my claim for having to cancel my holiday due to a fractured shoulder - and the reason is... I had a rash on my toe 18 months ago!!! Avoid this company at all costs. You will just waste your money if you insure with them as they will attempt to use every excuse as to why they don’t have to pay out and you will end up fighting them for months for them still to refuse to payout. They are an excuse of an insurance company. My flight took off and landed back in the original destination and was subsequently cancelled and a new flight scheduled for the next day resulting in me being unable to travel. They refused to payout as I departed but never made it to the destination through no fault of my own and incurring hotel costs. Reviewed on: 4th March 2025

1 star is too generous! Stay away from AXA insurance for any form of insurance. I have a yearly travel insurance policy with them and unfortunately due to being hospitalised with early pregnancy sickness in June I was unable to go on holiday. Despite providing all of the original evidence requested including a medical certificate from the hospital, proof of cancelled accommodation and flight changes they still haven't processed my claim nearly 6 months later. I am heavily pregnant and out hundreds of pounds. Every time I have made contact with them they have requested further information, which I have provided. They have just been in touch again today to ask for even more information (new information that is apparently needed that hasn't been mentioned up until now). It seems they are doing everything in their power to avoid paying out for a genuine claim that is meant to be covered on the policy. Extremely poor service, waiting weeks and months between calls for a response. Please avoid at all costs. Reviewed on: 26th November 2024

Very poor service, dont no what they are talking about in relation to pdf/screenshots, dont no about nhs app and name on documents. Pay you compensation when you have not accepted it and wont answer emails explaining why they put it in your bank account after. Reviewed on: 8th October 2024
