AXA Travel Insurance. the worst ever!

1
AXA Travel Insurance was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. They happily took my money, but the moment I actually needed help, they became impossible to deal with. Endless delays, generic copy-paste responses, and agents who seemed completely uninterested in resolving anything. The claims process felt intentionally complicated. Every time I submitted documents, they asked for more pointless paperwork just to drag things out longer. Communication was terrible — I had to chase them constantly for updates, and even then I barely got a proper answer. What pushed this from frustrating to completely unacceptable was that they actually claimed my travel agency didn’t physically exist as an excuse not to pay out my claim — despite the fact that it absolutely does exist and operates normally. It felt like they were looking for any reason possible to avoid paying rather than handling the claim fairly and honestly. For a company that advertises “peace of mind,” AXA delivered the exact opposite. Stressful, frustrating, and completely unreliable when it mattered most. I would strongly recommend avoiding AXA travel insurance and choosing a provider that actually supports its customers instead of treating them like a burden. Reviewed on: 26th May 2026

AXA SUCKS/CO-OP SHINES.

1
AXA SUCKS/CO-OP SHINES. In nearly 90 years of life no other company has heaped on me anything like the cumulative anguish and misery as is the case with AXA Trsvel Insurance. Profoundly unorofessional. Numerous are the obstacles they put in my way and they totally failed to provide me with a repatriation flight despite my policy including that provision, which I invoked due to being hospitalised overseas. .As a result, with hours to spare I had to suddenly find and fund a honeward flight costing me over £1k. When I submitted my claim quoting all the policy and reference numbers, flight details and price they replied protesting I hadn't used the correct format, grrrrrrrr! Previously I've used the benchmark excellent CO-OP who rose to the occasion magnificently when I needed them. Avoid AXA, they didn't even get off the ground. Reviewed on: 18th October 2025

Our family curtailment mishandled

1
I submitted a curtailment claim to AXA Travel Insurance on 6th August 2025 for £7,499.66, covering myself, my wife, and our two children after the sudden passing of my father. On 3rd October, I received a settlement letter for just £2,405.94 a shortfall of over £5,000. The AXA online portal, however, still shows the claim as “Settled” with a value of £7,416.77. I am unsure where this figure has come from, as my original claim was for £7,499.66. AXA have provided no explanation for these discrepancies. The lack of clarity has left me to reasonably conclude that AXA may have treated the claim as if it only applied to my share of the holiday, despite the Policy Schedule clearly listing four insured travellers. However, without an explanation from AXA, this remains unclear. Throughout this process, I have also been given contradictory information on the phone at one point told my claim had been rejected as the person dealing with my claim inputted the wrong amount and another that the offer would be “around £2,000.” The complaints team themselves told me I should never have been given the £2,000 figure, as the claim had not been settled. On another call, when I rang the claims team for an update, I was told they could not answer my questions because the complaints team were now dealing with it, and I would need to speak to them directly. This has been a very distressing and poorly handled experience at an already difficult time. Reviewed on: 4th October 2025

Easy experience when making a large claim following medical treatment abroad, company were very understanding and helpful when filling in claims for substantial amounts, and paid directly for extensive medical bills. Could not be more happy! Reviewed on: 5th September 2025

I think it is a big scam company

1
I think it is a big scam company I think it is a big scam company. They never pay any claims. When you buy the insurance it is all looking legitimate. But soon as you pay or buy the insurance they send you all the small details in small problem pages off small print which you don't read and I don't think any body read . I bought travel insurance but when I needed to make a claim they told me read the terms and conditions in small print. And I think nobody could get any think whitth this conditions. The bottom lines. PLEASE DON'T BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE FROM THIS COMPANY BECAUSE YOU WILL GET NOTHING IN YOU NEEDED. It is not fair this company take advantage off everyone there's a reason we buy travel insurance if something happens we need help. But this company are not helping ins8they looking for a reason to not helps you, My insurance policy number GB00263573 under name LANA RASHID Kind regards Reviewed on: 6th August 2025

Poor service and any excuse not to pay

1
After 3 months of back and forth and finally a formal complaint, they are still useless. My flight was cancelled due to a strike, I submitted the evidence from the airport confirming this but because the airline stated "operational reason" they used that as an excuse to ignore all the other evidence and reject the claim. Needless to say that I won't renew my policy Reviewed on: 22nd June 2025

Disgraceful.

1
Disgraceful. They should be hauled in front of court. They failed to pay out on my insurance claim. 2.5 years later after a protracted small claims process, their lawyer, Blake Morgan, eventually paid out on their behalf. They're playing the odds that claimants will give up. Reviewed on: 28th March 2025

DO NOT BUY AXA TRAVEL INSURANCE !!!.

1
AXA are refusing to pay my claim for having to cancel my holiday due to a fractured shoulder - and the reason is... I had a rash on my toe 18 months ago!!! You cant make this stuff up - I would not have believed it if it hadnt happened to me. DO NOT BUY AXA TRAVEL INSURANCE Reviewed on: 12th March 2025

Avoid this company at all costs.

1
Avoid this company at all costs. You will just waste your money if you insure with them as they will attempt to use every excuse as to why they don’t have to pay out and you will end up fighting them for months for them still to refuse to payout. They are an excuse of an insurance company. My flight took off and landed back in the original destination and was subsequently cancelled and a new flight scheduled for the next day resulting in me being unable to travel. They refused to payout as I departed but never made it to the destination through no fault of my own and incurring hotel costs. Reviewed on: 4th March 2025
