The Barclaycard Initial was the first credit card I ever got, for the simple reason I needed to build my credit history. To start with it was one of the first to have contactless which is a very handy extra. They set me a small credit limit and provided I paid it off gave me a reasonable credit limit increase. There are lots of discount offers associated with barclaycard credit card including discounts. The card offers a monthly pay off scheme for large purchases. As well as the... GOOD IF POOR CREDIT

Easy to get in, annoying to get out

Had no problem being accepted for the card. Put myself in a bit of debt, eventually paid it off and tried to cancel. The woman on the phone would not take no for an answer. She kept offering me various packages and deals and telling me I need it "in case of emergency". I repeatedly told her there is not a single offer she could give me that would make me stay and I wanted to cancel. I had a barclaycard for a couple of years, initially got it for a balance transfer on an existing card with another bank. Unfortunately they didn't give me the full amount so while the amount on my barclaycard was minimal and interest free for 6 months, I was still paying a lot of interest on my other one so couldn't pay back as much as I wanted.
