Worst Customer Service ever

After excepting a credit card offer from Barclays through my AARP membership, I immediately gave them information for two balance, transfers. The balance transfers with 0% interest were the sole reason I excepted the credit card offer to begin with. After waiting a few weeks, one of my statement still was not reflecting that the transfer has been made.. When I contacted Barclays, they told me that it failed to process, but they could not tell me why. When I asked how to resolve it, they said they could not help me as it had been over 45 days and I was required to do the transfer in that time period. I spoke with a customer care center supervisor named Kevin, who assured me that he could see that I had provided all information necessary for the balance transfer well ahead of the 45 days. However, since there was a problem on their end (one, they never made any attempt to resolve) he was not able to resubmit it. He acknowledged that I provided all the information to them for the balance transfer well within the required timeline. However, despite it, not being my fault, they could not resubmit and would not honor the original offer. He also assured me that I would be wasting my time to try and escalate it further as he was the final authority, and there was no one else that it could be escalated to. Reviewed on: 21st June 2023

Good interest free period

I use Barclaycard for its 0% interest for 25 months providing I pay it off each month which I always ensure I do...at the end of the term it jumps up to a ridiculous APR so it shall be chopped up into tiny pieces by then, and another 0% card shall be sought! Reviewed on: 29th November 2016

Can't dispute transactions

Mailed them my dispute for goods never received. They mailed me letter back thirty days later saying they never received my letter and I have to pay it. Transaction was only $40. But, I am cancelling because I am not willing to correspond on even larger transactions via snail mail. Reviewed on: 18th September 2016

Premium Barclaycard

I applied for a Premium Barclaycard credit card after my original bank was only willing to offer me an extortionate interest rate loan. From the initial application to two years down the line I have nothing but praise for this card. Easy to use website, very clear information, simple to pay your bill each month - delighted with it, and shows up my original bank no end! Highly recommended. Reviewed on: 21st August 2016

Ok but could be better

I had a problem that took a while to resolve. I had to escalate it but once it had been passed to a manager it was resolved quickly. It did take a few calls which was frustrating and they could have been more professional but overall it was resolved to my satisfaction. Reviewed on: 30th June 2016

Prepared to take a risk

Barclaycard for newbies

Using my barclaycard has been very helpful especially when I need to buy something and I don't have enough money on my bank account. The card is contactless as well so it makes life easier. The pay back reminder system is also very helpful. All in all, would recommend. Reviewed on: 26th June 2016

Good service, let down by clunky mobile app

Their mobile app was one of the first in the UK to offer contactless mobile payments on Android, but the experience was a let down, with payments being unreliable and the app including a permanent notification which couldn't be removed. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2016

Horrible!

I never missed a payment on my credit card, always paying on time and more than the minimum amount. I was about £300 under my credit limit and tried making a £30 purchase using the card at my local Holland and Barrett. To my embarrassment, the sales assistant told me that my card had been refused, and that a note had popped up on their system asking them to call Barclaycard immediately. I was very confused at this point, but waited whilst the call was made. The girl then returned to me and explained that Barclaycard have refused the payment, but that she wasn't aware of why. Annoyed at this point, I asked for my card back and tried to leave the shop. The assistant told me that Barclaycard had instructed her to keep my card...!!!!! What?!?! I left the store, even MORE annoyed and confused and I called Barclaycard when I got home for an explanation. I was told a new card would be sent out. Fine. When the letter arrived, it said (without giving ANY reason at all) that Barclaycard were exercising their right to cancel my account with them and that I was to pay back all monies owed. So A company that I had been using, AND paying on time every month, took my card and closed my account without any explanation. Great company.... NOT!! I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.
