Easy to open an account

I was a UK resident but not citizen recently arrived in the UK. I went to several banks to open an account but found them uninterested and unhelpful, except Barclays. Several years later I am still with them. Reviewed on: 15th February 2016

Terrible customer service

I'd been considering joining Barclays for a while, and after seeing the services they offered and how modern it looked as a bank, I decided to apply. Signing up was very easy yet after so long, I was noticing problems with their customer services. I opened an ISA with them not 100% knowing the rules, and I held one elsewhere, so I went into branch to close the Barclays one down, the lady was so condescending and warned me I would probably get taken to court by HMRC for tax evasion. Despite me having the account open around a week with no contributions. Anyway after that, I had a technical issue and was put through to their Indian call centre although there was a severe language barrier and I ended up fixing the problem myself. Same with their Barclaycard credit card service, there was a technical problem where I couldn't pay my bill early, so I phoned them up and got put through to the debt collection department instead. Good service, pity about their ethics

Very Convenient experience

Great experience so far with barclays. quick to replace damaged cards, friendly and helpful employees at their branches. free kaspersky internet security software. Online banking is good. I hate the e-reader you have to use, it is big and ugly and not that convenient, but it does work. Reviewed on: 15th November 2016

Never had problems

I had an issue a few months ago where someone tried to hack my card, Barclays called me to let me know and blocked my card to prevent any money being taken, then sent a new one and it was sorted within a few days. Reviewed on: 15th November 2016

Insane fees

I deposited a check from the States in the amount of £100.00 and Barclays charged me £99 in fees until I complained and they admitted it was a bit excessive and in the end waved the fees for my trouble Reviewed on: 15th November 2016

Correspondence is clear, Customer Service is straight to the point and their website is easy to navigate. I can be in control whenever I so wish and wherever I may be - I'm the boss!!! Reviewed on: 15th November 2016
