Loyalty not important

3
I had my HSBC current account for over 21 years and during her time took out loans and stayed in credit 99% of the time. Basically I think I was quite a good customer of the bank and I even introduce them to my wife so that she could open her account with them. However this year I decided to shop around and see if I could get a slightly more favourable deal. Co-op were offering £150 to switch so I went to my bank and asked them if they would match that. They weren't interested even though they were offering £200 to new customers. I ended up having quite a long chat with somebody at HSBC customer services about the unfairness of offering financial incentives to new customers but not being prepared to do anything for existing customers of 21 years standing. In the end it seems that loyalty has no value any more, and I will probably switch from Bank to bank in the future as long as they are incentivising me to change. I think this is a shame as I would rather have continued a long-standing relationship with a bank but in the end Money Talks. Reviewed on: 2nd January 2017

I wanted to compare my mortgage with what HSBC was offering. Adviser was very helpful, adviser did not pressurized me and offered a very clear and detailed explanation of their products. When I told her how many years I the mortgage for she tailored it according to my request. I did transferred the mortgage with them in the end as they offered the best. deal. Reliable but falling behind

HSBC are not competing at the level they once were, whereas other banks have moved forward by offering incentives around cashback HSBC remains stagnant and unmoved on giving back to their customers. Reviewed on: 24th December 2016

Pretty good bank, no complaints

My experience of HSBC is generally very good. They are very hot on security and react very quickly to any unusual activity on your account. I have tried to make a payment from my phone one time in a poor signal area, they closed down my card immediately thinking it may have been stolen, and I had to wait for a new one. The only problem I have ever had with HSBC is when phoning them and trying to understand the persin on the other end. Reviewed on: 21st December 2016

I was paying in cheques the other day at my local branch, and the teller asked after my husband. I thought it was really friendly and nice of him. Reviewed on: 18th December 2016

FAWLTY TOWERS OF BANKING

1
Applied to open a new community account, the amount of stuff they ask you for is ridiculous compared to other banks. They wouldn't accept my personal bank statement as its with First Direct which is part of hsbc! The documents i supplied kept getting rejected. Tried phoning the helpline, it's never answered even after on hold for 20-30mins at a time. Went to local branch, waste of time there as well, as the bank employee hadnt a clue kept referring to personal banking evidence and kept having to tell her it was a community account, in the end she went and got a leaflet and sat and read it to me!! really??? absolutely farscial, had to look for the hidden tv cameras as i thought it was a wind up, but sadly it was all true...#wasteoftime Reviewed on: 16th December 2016
