The Bank That Will Not Let You Leave

1
I would give no stars if I could! I have been a business customer for 7 years. Last year HSBC started with extremely invasive questionnaires to their busines customers. I complained and was told it was a regulator requirement. This is a complete lie. They then threatened to close the account down unless I gave further info. So I withdrew all funds (over £80K!), filled out a closure of account form, and took it into branch mid-Jan. They have still not closed the account over 5 weeks later. And have continued to charge a monthly fee and have now sent a replacement credit card. I can see this is going to be a battle that will end up at the financial ombudsman. Do NOT open an account with HSBC, especially if you are a business. Reviewed on: 24th February 2022

Corruption of data for their own advantage

1
4 million pounds redress scheme. The bank withheld historic archived data from me. They said it was destroyed, without proof the denied my claim of 3k. Took it further the FOS, The data they denied existed was provided to the FOS showing accounts unpaid, where did they come from. I took them to court, again they told the court they had little or no data because it had been destroyed. It cost 8k to defend a 3k claim! A data request proved hsbc lied about my data, and that they had made up bank statements, changed historic archived data. Used my altered data in a manner that changed the narrative causing me great stress and anxiety, as all those independent organisation accepted corrupt data as true. My claims is valid as I provided all the correction evidence. Could be owed 10k then there's the fraud allegation that needs to be addressed. I gave hsbc full disclosure of my claims with evidence to. Noel Quinn contacted but no responses just emails blocked. The business Review just says my claim closed, well its far from closed. I need help before it kills me. This is a statement of truth. With evidence to prove my allegations. Any comments or support welcome. Fca fos useless, ask Mr ethical Reviewed on: 21st February 2022

Some thieves steal your money and then harass you.

1
2 years ago, the amount of 500 pounds was stolen from me in several transactions, I answered the text message that it is not my transactions and I was called by someone and reassured that the money did not go away, after 4 months they appeared and the same amount on the grounds that I stole my own money I want to mention that I only had 30 pounds in the account and a 100 pound overdraft however 500 pounds left the account I solved the problem with obudsman and I changed the bank today I called again by the bank and asked if the transactions from 2 years ago are mine. Run away from this bank as much as you can. Employees also steal here. It is not possible after I have confirmed that it is not my payments that leave the money unhindered. HSBC You are a total disgrace - Closed my account and havent' released my money

1
HSBC Buisness you are a disgrace I've been a customer for over 40 years After multiple attempts to complete the so called 'Safe Guarding' on line last year I was finally after 20 attemps, emails and hours on the phone and multiple visits to the bank - I was told it was complete. I sent documents and was told by person on the phone it was all signed off. NOT THE CASE The requests kept coming and the threats to close my account down with them. Guess what - They froze my account leaving my buisness with no accesss to any funds - They have closed my account HSBC still has all my money locked away - I can't access it - they promised 6 weeks ago they would send me a cheque for the balance in my account AS IF THEY WERE DOING ME A FAVOUR!! It's nothing more than criminal HSBC have not sent me anything I'm angry, disgusted and so will absoloutly never ever recommend this bank to anyone This is the treatment you get for 40 years of loyalty Sad days for you HSBC you used to be good- you had a face and I could go to the bank and talk to a buiness manager Nothing now - faceless and hopeless and beyond disapointing Reviewed on: 17th February 2022

Not recommended

1
Been with HSBC for 30+ years but they’ve let me down over a transaction dispute with an online insurance company and ended up (wrongly) taking over £100. No help from the online team, fraud team or my local branch. Have given up trying to contact them now so will leave and go elsewhere. Reviewed on: 16th February 2022

Good customer service via chat functin

I needed to check a few payments that were going out of my account and did so via the chat function on the HSBC site. It was very easy, worked well and staff were extremely helpful. Reviewed on: 7th February 2022

It used to be a very good bank

1
Don't ever apply for a loan on line it's a joke, I received email form the bank with the title "Same helping hand..." to invite me to change my current loan rate. So I thought great that I can re applied to be turned down the percentage. I went to the my internet banking and applied online. I was waiting a much longer then 24h for response and they event did not phoned me to discussed, the underwriter Jo A....... just sent a cold message that the nothing they could do, they have to decline my application this time because I have to much under my name. I am paying all my bills without any delays even my current loan with the bank. We have joint account with my husband and we don't have any other account so everything is paid from HSBC account and should be spited for 2 as I do all finance in our family, that including most bills, phones, car insurance itp.. I was expecting a call not just a message, I did not expect this from the bank at all, this is disgusting, she writes to me as a responsible bank, it is ridiculous. I know now why they have only one star, think need to find another bank. Bank no longer treat anyone like a human, sad. Need to think about moving to other bank. Reviewed on: 4th February 2022

Robbing the poor

1
I run a small not for profit charity which has banked with HSBC for over 50 years. The bank has just started to charge us to operate the account -about £220 a year. I asked them to reconsider because they were essentially taking money out of charity but they told me to get lost. HSBC made $12.7 billion profit last year so clearly they are desperate for money. Whatever happened to social responsibility? Reviewed on: 1st February 2022
