Awesome staff at witham branch

So today I needed assistance as I’m disabled mentally and physically and I had some paperwork that was not bank related, I rang my local branch (witham) amd spoke to the manager Shirley Richards she invited me to come along and they would help, my son kindly gave me a lift and I was seen immediately by the server and Shirley I really cannot rate them enough this is the 2nd time in a few months that they have helped they witnessed my signature for me which helped massively with my paperwork and solved my issue, without Shirley amd her team I don’t know what I would have done! So many thanks for all your help I wouldn’t hesitate to contact you again. Reviewed on: 17th November 2022

traumatising experience

The trauma was as a result of the freezing of my accounts due to the large bills i had to pay a builder for building a house for my adult. disabled daughter in our garden. it was legitimate, i was managing the build which was stressful enough. without warning they said i could be the victim of a scam. i had selected the builder myself with the architect from three quotations. i was without access to my funds for a month. The uncertainly of when i would be able to access funds added to the trauma. i had no other accounts. my Mastercard was stopped because of a 50p fraud on it so i could not even use that to pay for tiles, carpets, paint and all the various contractors involved. The staff were unempathic, unsupportive, unhelpful and absent from the phone lines for 90 per cent of the time. i spent 3 hours over 8 visits to the branch to try to resolve, they could not access the fraud squad either under 1.5hours. All my agency was taken away by their actions, I felt totally disempowered. I had to borrow thousands from family and friends to support every day expenses. I complained only to be told i was unable to visit the branch nor have my accounts any more adding insult to injury. the pittance in compensation offered does not even cover the trauma informed counselling i am receiving. Furthermore, their apology was unconvincing. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BANK/BUILDING SOCIETY TO ANYONE, NOT VEN MY WORST ENEMY. SUGGEST YOU SWTCH IMMEDIATELY TO ANTHER BANK. THEY HAVE TOO MUCH POWER AND THE LEGISLATION ON MONEY LAUNDERING NEEDS REVISING SO THE SO-CALLED 'VICTIM' IS NOT VICTIMISED AND TRAUMATISED BY THE BANK ACTIONS. Reviewed on: 23rd October 2022

Poor service

This company locked me out of my account and failed to answer the phone for 2 days, they cost me £500 and have done nothing to rectify the situation, I'm now being forced to take my complaint higher, so much for being a loyal customer, I'm closing my accounts, shame on this disrespectful organisation, if they had done their job properly I wouldn't be in this situation. Friendly and Helpful

I set up a student account with Nationwide for going to University and they were really helpful in setting it up, the account was flexible and fair and with it they provided a student box of goodies! Nationwide are always so helpful and the staff are always really friendly and the banking app is easy and clear to use. Reviewed on: 14th August 2022
