I applied for an account with Nationwide about 12 years ago in the first place and the process was made very simple. I filled out a form and sent it off and then a week or so later my confirmation letter and bank card arrived. I like that the account comes with a debit card meaning I don't have to carry much cash around and I like that I can access my account online any time I want. They have added a card reader to the account so that you have added security online but you can still log in with your usual details, if you then ask to pay money to somewhere new you will be asked to use the reader preventing fraud. I am very happy with the account and have put my children's money in an account there too. Reviewed on: 29th August 2015

I have had a nationwide account for many years and have always been impressed with the service. I have had to contact customer services twice recently - once after losing my card, and once after a company charged me twice for a purchase - and I have been pleasantly surprised both times by the customer service provided. I have rung expecting to be on hold for ages waiting to talk to someone but both times have got through relatively quickly and the advisors I have spoken to have been friendly and efficient. Newly discovered mobile banking apps and Nationwide's does the job. Easy to authenticate and use on a day-to-day basis to check finance, make transfers and pay contacts. Reviewed on: 25th August 2015

Nice to speak to a person who understand

Having ignored my Nationwide Debit & Credit Card Accounts for a few years I needed to call up and either cancel or reactivate them. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself talking to a UK based call centre who understood everything I wanted to do, made it happen simply and effectively without trying to sell me other products that I didn't want at the same time. Great customer service

Opening an account with nationwide is so easy you can even do it online these days.When I incurred charges a couple of money's ago the friendly customer service cleared them for me due to the fact I was been charged for such a small amount overdrawn however if you do go overdrawn there is no way normally to avoid charges unlike Lloyds tsb who give you till 3pm on the day of going over to top up you account and not get charged.
