Lovely bank!! Great customer service!

5
Never had any trouble with this account or the bank! Always there to help, literally can not think of anything to fault! On the occasions I have needed to call there customer service team, which is very rarely, they're always lovely and helpful. Would recommend! The internet banking service is miles above the rest as well, I have worked in the customer care team in another bank, which I won't mention, so I know how miles above the rest santander are! No passion for my custom and reluctant to deal with the issue

So I have been asked to review Santander after the experience I have had and to help you guys out so I will give you as much information I can without trying to boar you in the process. SO… It started about 2 weeks ago when myself and my partner decided to get a joint account, we looked at our current situation and liked the look of the 123 account with a £1,500 overdraft with Santander. Now we purchased our house 4 years ago and have a mortgage with them so thought it be a good idea to keep everything together. We went to the Stratford Upon Avon site and applied. REFERED – Now I get paid by 3rd party transfer from my work and sometimes this does not register as an income on certain service computers so we had no issue in waiting for an answer as I have had to wait when it came to buying my house and my car. HOWEVER they came back to me and said it was declined. EXPLINATION – There was none, now I understand data protection so I asked for a letter that still to the day has not made it. I printed both mine and my partners Experian Credit scores both of which were 999 out of 999 (true, I could post a picture if not believed) for them to look at and even the member of staff in the bank was lost for words as to why if we had our mortgage with them AND had great credit scores why this has happened. SO WHAT NOW – Well the customer service team eventually told me we did not pass the pre-checks but my credit file was still searched regardless of them doing their own pre-checks… this means that even if you fail the checks before they look at your credit file, they will still look at your credit file and make a mark on your name that NEGATIVLY effects your chances for future lending EVEN if you have great credit. They also told me they DO NOT have to divulge the processes they take to come to their decision. SUMMERY – So if you have great credit, have a mortgage and pay regularly to these big bankers you still may not get anywhere with Santander. They still 2 weeks on have not got back to me with an answer as to why I was rejected an account. MY ADIVCE – GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. We walked into a Lloyds in Stratford Upon Avon and what a totally different experience. We were armed to the teeth with passports, credit files, bank statements and pay slips to show how well we control our money etc. the guy took us to his office and went through the account we wanted didn’t try and sell us something we didn’t want and processed everything via his computer. The checks went through fine and the account was open within ten mins. No proof needed as we were electronically ID’d (whatever that means) and we were on our way. WE ARE DUE TO MOVE OUR MORTGAGE OVER IN 6 MONTHS ASWELL Reviewed on: 27th June 2016

Pleased!

Really happy with this account. We get cashback every month from spending at certain retailers and the app on our phones is so easy to use and informative! Reviewed on: 27th June 2016

Great interest

Great interest levels and allow interest levels on a much higher amount of cash than other banks. Very simple to switch as well. Reviewed on: 26th June 2016

Great interest on small(ish) savings

In spite of the £5/month fee this account is very good value, paying 3% on £2000 - £20,000. Communications are excellent, always respond within 24 hours and extra layers of security make me feel safer. Cash back on some of my DDs too, which more than pays for the account fee. Highly recommended. Reviewed on: 26th June 2016

Very good account with rewards

Very good account with rewards, but you do need to pay in a certain ammount each month, so not necessarily useful if you are retired. Reviewed on: 23rd June 2016

Utility Warehouse customers do not get cash back, WHY?

2
After being informed that U. W. customers will get cash back prior to me opening an account, I have now found that this is incorrect as I have not been paid for my Gas, Electric, Broadband or phones? Santander confirmed that had I accounts with suppliers that are not bundled together, I would automatically receive cash back for all the above, WHY? I pay a one monthly direct debit for all my services which is no different to me having to pay several to different companies. Their calculator clearly shows all accounts permitted for a percentage cash back but does not single out U.W as being ineligible. My loses to date is in excess of £40. My complaint has been registered with Santander and I suggest any other customer who has been penalized to register their complaint. Reviewed on: 22nd June 2016
