By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

If you have a car with low annual mileage you can save a lot by going with By Miles. The tracker works perfectly and the app/website and customer support are all great too. Reviewed on: 16th August 2022

A really flexible, easy to use way to insure your car. The app is really handy, allows you to keep track of your miles and even comes with added features such as a diagnostic check (that would cost £60+ at a garage) and even helps you to find your car should you forget where you left it! Brilliant for low use drivers!

Absolutely love by miles. I rarely drive far so for me this is perfect. Even on longer journeys I don’t have to worry as the amount can be checked up front with the app. Easy to use, have recommended to loads of people in my position already! Reviewed on: 16th August 2022

I was sceptical at first at switching to an insurer like by miles as I'd not seen or heard of anything like this before, but as soon as my box arrived for the car I was supported by by miles who were super responsive via the chat window on the website. I found it all straight forward, no jargon, the app is user friendly and accessible and I like the notifications that pop up telling me how much my journey cost me. I can see how many miles I've used up this year and can see how many are left to use. Think I'll be a due a refund at the end of my year - how many insurers do you know that do this?
