By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

The most sensible and cost-effective insurance company

Why didn't insurance companies think of this idea sooner? It seems a no brainer to pay for car insurance as you drive rather than wasting your hard earned money. This insurance is also an effective way of protecting the environment: if you are charged per journey you will look to cycle, walk or run more often instead of polluting the environment with your car. As insurance premium is attached to mileage, there's a real incentive to think about the environment and the journeys you make. The app is brilliant to keep up to date with your bills and if there's anything wrong with your car you get an alert. I imagine if my car was stolen I'd know where it was.
