Finding a new fixed rate mortgage was easy.

When our fixed repayment mortgage came to an end, I found it easy to move forward onto a new fixed rate term. The advice available from the society was excellent and after consideration was able to decide which option was best for me. I have been pleased with this decision and very happy with the result. We joined Darlington Building Society in 2018 on the recommendation of a financial advisor here in Chesterfield, and we moved to Chesterfield in 2015 from our grass roots of Hartlepool. It is so nice for us to hear the Northern accent of Ann Walpole and all the other staff at Darlington Building Society. We not only have a mortgage but also 2 loans at very competitive rates, we have recently taken out an ISA each with good interest rates too, higher than anything you can get here in Chesterfield. It is also pleasing for us that we receive from them a monthly news letter, which keeps us informed about the local activities and charities that Darlington Building Society are involved in. Everytime we phone up with an enquiry all staff are able to help with any renquiries, they all have a good allround knowledge of the products and you don't get passed from pillar to post they are all able to answer. Two weeks ago we moved into another property and porting our mortgage was so smooth with no hiccups whatsoever. All members of staff are a credit to Darlington Building Society, which can only prosper on these foundations. Well done all! Reviewed on: 27th March 2025

I needed Darlington Building Society's help at a very sensitive time. I was going through a divorce which is incredibly stressful and navigating the mortgage process during such a difficult time can feel very overwhelming. My mortgage advisor, Ann, went above and beyond in every way possible. She was not only highly professional, but also showed empathy and understanding. Many mortgage providers say that they consider your circumstances on a case-by-case basis, but Ann truly did. She took the time to treat me as an individual and to take the time to understand my unique circumstances and offered guidance tailor specifically to my needs. She made herself available to me with a big time change (did I mention I live abroad - an extra complication) and with further complications (salary in a different currency, losing the salary and support of my spouse). She consistently followed up and helped keep everything on track. She did a wonderful job of explaining what the next steps were, this was very helpful at a time when the next steps felt so uncertain. If you're looking for someone who not only knows their stuff but also treats you with respect and kindness, Ann is the mortgage advisor you need.
