Excellent company

A good bank with superb customer service

Your form insisted that I should select just one product, but I would not have done so out of my own choice; it is First Direct themselves who are so good. I have been with them for around 20 years, and only once in all that time did I find myself on hold when I rang up - and that was only for a few seconds. Their customer service is second to none. They get things right the first time; when you hear of other banks (e.g. NatWest) having data breaches, or letting their computer systems fail so that people cannot access their accounts, it throws First Direct into superb contrast. Nothing like that ever goes wrong. Ever. They are totally and completely trustworthy. Reviewed on: 6th November 2017

consistently great

Banked with First Direct for over 20 years and they've been excellent - great service on the telephone 24hrs a day, and robust online banking - app and desktop. Reviewed on: 6th November 2017

A rose in lots of thorns

They are a true internet bank. The only things I cannot do on line is pay in cash/cheques (use a Post Office) or remove cash (ATM). I have been with them a number of years and on the rare occasion I have had a problem, it has been solved immediately. More than I can say for the other banks I am with! The bank you need

I use on-line banking as a preference and the First Direct on-line banking system is second to none. I have had other online bank accounts over the years and none have worked as well and seamlessly as the First Direct product. I would thoroughly recommend it. Reviewed on: 18th September 2017

Not a bad word to say!

I swapped from HSBC to First Direct around Christmas last year and I couldn't fault the process at all. The customer service team are incredibly helpful and never make me feel stupid or an inconvenience when I ask them anything. I mainly bank via the app and have had no bad experiences with it at all. Customer service is good but that's all there is...

Customer service is really good. You get through to some one right away and are dealing with your query in minutes. Though, there is nothing really more to first direct - you don't really get any benefits (low interest rates, a pretty lack luster app..) it really feels like a no frills bank. Competitors have better interest rates, benefits such as rewards and cash back etc - first direct has nothing but good customer service. I don't find myself calling my bank often (reallistically, why should you these days when it's all online!) Also, all the security questions etc were a pain along with the various codes etc. I seen no beneift from staying, as I wasn't getting anything back from first direct after 4 years - especially from a product that would technically cost 10 pound a month if I didn't meet the quota. In the end, I decided to leave for a competitor that would offer better benefits such as rewards and cashback on certain purchases and I am a lot happier (better app too!) even if I need to press one when calling and entering my details on the phone. I 've switched to first direct current account a few years back. Totally top for customer service. Debit card can be used to pay into post office too. 250 free overdraft also. Whats not to love.? Reviewed on: 14th August 2017
