FirstDirect still doing the business in a personal way

First direct keep me informed without bombarding me relentlessly with emails and texts. They inform of product offerings, statements and interest rate changes in periodic and timely fashion. On the few occasions I need to call them on the phone their staff truly demonstrate why they have won so many customer service awards since 1989 Reviewed on: 26th February 2025

Great service

The account itself was attractive at the time of opening with by far the best overdraft available on an account offering a switching bonus. My only concern was the lack of branches but I have been consistently impressed with the phone service available from the bank and would not consider moving to a different account. Good Company but Poor Interest Rates

Not Great for an Online Bank

I recently switched my current account to First Direct and haven't been overly impressed. For an online only bank, I had problems settings up online banking which wasn't a great start. I had to call a couple of times and to be fair they sorted the issues out quickly but it wasn't the best first impression. The app is also a bit clunky and doesn't update as quickly as I would like; I was previously with TSB and their app was far better. Reviewed on: 30th May 2017
