Didn't get as far as opening the account

For a bank that's supposed to be all about 'being modern' and prides itself on great customer service, I had a pretty useless time with First Direct. I tried to switch my current account over to the first account, but had to chase them up on it twice, and then they wanted me to verify my identity with a call to my place of work, and required a passport photo or similar signed by a doctor. I thought this was supposed to be the 21st century... If I can open an account with Atom etc. via an app, I'll be doing that instead. Thanks for nothing, FD! Reviewed on: 12th July 2016

Easy to talk to, helpful staff and good policies.

First Direct were very helpful and easy to speak to during the switching process. The Welcome Bonus was indeed most welcome and the fee free overdraft of £250 is a great idea to smooth any bumps in the month's finances. Reviewed on: 22nd June 2016

Easy and convienient to use

They are easy to get through to by telephone, their security is upto date so you are covered but do not need to carry a pin machine with you to log on and are always helpful. Reviewed on: 20th June 2016

Customer service is second to none

First Direct win so many awards for their customer service and they are well deserved. You get straight through to a UK call centre within several rings and don't have to repeatedly go through endless security. Service is so friendly and helpful. Reviewed on: 20th June 2016
