Great service, when you phone the bank it is snswred by a person who can answer your query or help solve any problems not a computer that can't understand what you say or needs you to key in lots of numbers. Reviewed on: 20th February 2021

Been my fav bank for 30 yrs until starling and new online banks

Still my main bank as I wait for them to catch up giving me on instant alerts on all transactions. Currently they only provide alerts for £10 and over can take days to get them. They were the original phone banking service and their friendly efficient customer service (mainly lovely Scottish people I think) have always been a delight to contact which is why their customer service has always been voted tops. So I will be patient in waiting for them to catch up because they have looked after me do well for so long. I was surprised they didn’t lead again with the new banking apps like Starling. First Direct i considered great communicator's and have friendly support team. Never in time i have used them have i ever had a negative email They play fair and always prepared to find solutions to questions that as a customer will do there upmost to achieve the best results. Scam

Late 2020 victim of two linked scams. FD have withheld over £3K of first one as "punishment" for not taking more care. Complaint letter factually incorrect. Granted loan didn't ask for, not checked with me because "it was done online". Account fraud their own department, debit card fraud covers FD, HSBC, M&S Bank. When agent called she used wrong one so made me more suspicious. Thankfully recipient of part of loan was suspicious and refunded my money. Learn from this FD! Ombudsman has been in touch with FD so hopeful of getting money back. Shame it's more than would be covered by small claims court. Had phone number for initial scammer, FD didn't want it initially. Same with two e-mails. Blaming account holder seems easy way out. Shambles is only way to describe FD security! Reviewed on: 18th February 2021

Excellent service

Excellent customer service and bank, always get through to them within minutes and they solve any queries I have straight away. Their customer service agents, who are based in the UK, are very clear to hear, which is a bonus. I do my banking online and their app is excellent, everything I need for my banking needs.
