Supportive with rewards

Halifax offer a straightforward experience with rewards at a time when other bank accounts don't have much to offer. It is relatively easy to get through to a UK call centre if needed, although most things can be accomplished online. The call centre staff are supportive, offering extra time and care if you have identified health needs such as anxiety. The account offers £5 per month for exceeding a certain account balance or spending a certain amount on the debit card. There is also cashback for spending at certain retailers. Downsides are that interest rates aren't high, that you have to remember to activate the cashback each month rather than it being automatic, and the amounts needed to earn £5 per month are quite high. However, these factors are either common to other banks or better than banks that don't offer rewards at all Reviewed on: 8th January 2022

No issues with the account itself and I’m happy to still have a cheque book as I believe they still have a use. However the app can be confusing at times although the basic functionality of it (ie: day to day use), is pretty simple. It’s just when you try to find certain options, that you get lost! One positive is the lack of charges for unarranged overdrafts which let’s face it, happens to the best of us. I’m very grateful to not be charged for this as I’m on a very low income. Halifax loan team

Phoned today 11/6/24 regarding a loan I have with Halifax. Spoke to Kirsty (Scottish accent) who was really helpful professional and understanding. Kirsty is a great asset to the company and dealt with the issue quickly and has the patience of a saint ( my youngest kids were making noise throughout!) Reviewed on: 11th June 2024

Customer service is absolutely terrible.

Customer service is absolutely terrible. 80% of the time i had a query regarding a dispute i’d be sent to people who couldn’t speak english properly and when i try conversing with them they’d act like they can’t hear me and cut the phone. Reviewed on: 5th June 2024

Excellent bank, especially the new app

I have used the Halifax since I was a child. I have always had a good experience, even now I will pop into my local store if I need assistance with my card or need to withdraw money if I'm stuck. The new app (which I use daily, several times) is excellent and is user-friendly and designed in a way that makes it easy for me to check my daily finances and make better choices. Compassionate

I've been banking with Halifax for years and I will never leave. The reason why is when my dad died the people at the Normanton branch bank were amazing in helping my mum out. They were unbelievable in their approach and support. Reviewed on: 15th April 2024
