informative, concise, genuine and friendly service

Me and my partner wanted to start saving our money to help us get a mortage and wanted to do so in the most effective way possible. We chose Halifax to do this with but didn't really know where to go from there. From having a meeting with an advisor, we were talked through all the options and really felt that the informative we were getting was honest and took into account our best interests rather than just being a sales pitch which you do sometimes feel you are getting at banks. We felt assured that Halifax were approachable and that we were confident in saving with them and choosing the saver ISA. Reviewed on: 22nd June 2016

Cash ISA

I took out a Cash ISA account with Halifax several years ago (I already had my current account with them). The account is really easy to use - I just transfer money using online banking from my current account to my ISA with a few clicks. Money can be returned to my current account in the same way with unlimited withdrawals and no penalties. I tend to use the account for short to medium term savings to keep the money separate from my current account, its not the best rate of interest but if you want a savings account that is tax free, easy to use with unlimited free withdrawals then I would highly recommend this product. Need to do more for savers

Halifax could provide a better interest rate for us savers. My isa has dropped by 1% in the last 3 months so I decided not to reinvest it. Reviewed on: 16th February 2016

Helpful and friendly staff

I've always received excellent customer service from the staff at my local Halifax branches in Chester, whenever I've had a query they are always happy to help and are very patient. I had trouble accessing my online banking service a while ago and they fixed the problem quickly and promptly, apologising for the inconvenience caused. They offer additional services and products, without being pushy and always make you feel valued as a customer. Reviewed on: 25th August 2015

Breath of fresh air

Last year I opened a 2 year fixed isa saver with Halifax and transferred in existing products from another provider. I began the process online (as an existing customer with a current account) however came up against a query quite quickly with the transfer details required therefore called up. I was quickly put through to the relevant department who took resolved my query which meant I could have continued online however as they were so quick I chose to work through the process with them over the phone. They took all the details including the maturation date of my existing product and before I knew it we were done, they also advised the closure date of my chosen product due to a change in isa limits/rules which meant another product maturing later could also be consolidated which was an added bonus, they even offered to take those details then ready to action which I felt was very proactive and helpful and they clearly knew their products and all relevant associated rules which put me at ease. The documents arrived within days confirming the product and transfer and I received regular updates confirming the transfer had been put in place with my existing provider and then once the funds were received. I literally had to do nothing more, they even added it to my online banking. I had not expected to receive any notification of interest on the product until it matured so I was pleasantly surprised when my balance increased after the end of the first financial year to show interest obtained. It was all so simple and the staff inspired confidence therefore I will definitely consider Halifax in the future for my banking needs.
