Friendly and helpful staff, especially in Leighton Buzzard. Improvement - more help to inform people if their savings rates are too low and that there are better products. Reviewed on: 28th September 2023

I will make sure that this is passed onto Isabel and the team there. 99% of our accounts earn better than average returns, and we have recently updated our processes so existing customers can apply for a new account without the need to complete a full application form. We have, and will continue to signpost customers to our most competitively priced products. Great personal service. Product offering is limited for kids, perhaps a bit dated vs. larger banks/building societies. My visit was to open a kids savings account, the team were knowledgeable, good with kids and showed the benefits of saving to them. Reviewed on: 28th September 2023

Reply from Harpenden Building Society Thank you for your feedback, especially regarding Steve and Bharti. I will make sure that this is cascaded to their line manager. The decision to withdraw third party cheques was not a decision we took lightly. We have to balance our risk appetite and regulatory focus with the needs of our customers, and on this occasion it was felt appropriate and proportionate to withdraw the facility for our savings accounts. Whilst it is unlikely we will reinstate third party transactions in the short to medium term, it is a subject that we will monitor moving forward.
