I have had my car insurance policy with Hastings direct for over 5 years. I had to contact them for a call out when the... I have had my car insurance policy with Hastings direct for over 5 years. I had to contact them for a call out when the car battery failed to start, but they said I was not covered for that, and they told me the RAC would not come out to attend to my car. I since found out through a friend that I needed Homestart car insurance, so I have now got this but had to pay a substantial amount more to have this. i was using the data box paired with my phone and app this device does not record correctly, its just there so they can sell... i was using the data box paired with my phone and app this device does not record correctly, its just there so they can sell your data on to other industries , customer service is so unhelpfully I was getting very good scores until one day they marked me down for braking too hard, this was because a pedestrian walked out in front of me, it like i should have run over or killed this person to make a claim because they scored me low for braking avoiding killing or injuring someone, was sat at a green light once because a car had stopped in front of the crossing, they marked me down for that also this APP is RUBBISH i asked HastingDirect customer service why it marked that as a bad drive they said it does not reflect real life scenarios, what is the point then, i now know its just a data gathering money making device, after i moaned about it i noticed i was getting more and more mark downs, seemed like a punishment i would AVOID hasting direct data recording device to get cheaper insurance its cheap because they using your data to make money. I've now left them and the attitude was not pleasant, they are so vague with any questions you often having to re ask it again. to force an answer from them. they try pressure you to stay , IE you will loose your NCB etc etc it will cost you XXX it tracks you using the toilet and social life you have nearby as its connected to your phone. another BIG brother watching you take a leak or drop the kids of at the pool.
